General Comments: 

About the resort:
The resort has a games room with mini golf, pool, table tennis, darts and various other games. The on site playground includes a slide and various other climbing equipment.

Nearby attractions:
Facilities include snorkelling at Cape Vidal (35km) and nature walks 1.5km away. Bird watching from boat trips along the estuary, and hiking through the Parks Board. Boats are available for rent in town. Fishing includes rock, surf and estuary fishing. Enjoy squash and tennis, or do whale watching from a boat.

The resort is situated in an area where there are numerous wild animals (hippo, crocodile etc). Caution is advised.

La Rochelle is 2km from the beach and does not have any sea views.

The resort will charge R30.00 for a game card fee for each family for the duration of their stay.

Key/breakage deposit will be accepted via credit card only and credits will be passed on departure or thereafter, once the units have been checked and cleared. Cash payments will only be accepted in extraordinary circumstances, on payment of a fee of R50.00 per deposit.

Due to the draught, the Far North Coast is experiencing water shortages. Please take bottled water for drinking and cooking as all water is discoloured & not drinkable. The resort has water restrictions from time to time. Please contact the resort for an update on the situation.

**NB : When travelling from Johannesburg, (N2) that the stretch of road between Piet Retief and Pongola is currently undergoing roadworks, and that the road is in a very poor condition with plenty potholes and (stop and go). Travelling time extended with 2 hours and delays can be expected.**

From Durban:
Take the N2 North highway and take the Matuba/St Lucia (R618) turn-off. Follow the signs to St Lucia and once in St Lucia, cross over a bridge and a traffic circle. Turn left at the traffic circle and then immediately right into Beach Road. Continue approximately 600m and you will see La Rochelle on the right hand side.

From Johannesburg:
Take the N17 past Leandra, Kinross, Bethal, Ermelo and Piet Retief. Take the N2 past Pongola, Mkuzi and Hluhulwe towards Mtubatuba. Take the R618 at Mtubatubato to St Lucia. When reaching St Lucia, turn left at the T-junction into Mckenzie Road and then right into Beach Road. The resort is on the right hand side. The distance is approximately 620 km.
